NEW DELHI: The Times Internet Half Marathon showcased notable participation from women athletes, with the under-29 10-kilometer category underscoring speed, determination, and emerging talent.

Leading the category was 22-year-old Shakuntala Devi, who claimed first place with a chip time of 42:31. Having been involved in running for five years, she attributes her introduction to the sport to her brother, who played a pivotal role in shaping her early journey. Devi has represented her country at the national level, and after completing her first marathon, she received encouragement to continue pursuing long-distance running. Since then, she has made consistent improvements in her performance.

The second position was secured by 18-year-old Neha, who finished with a chip time of 44:22. Neha began her running journey two years ago and was previously engaged in sports such as cricket and handball before switching to marathons. Discussing her approach, she shared that she does not set rigid goals and instead focuses on the present, adapting to opportunities as they arise. She also recounted her memorable experience at the Times Internet Half Marathon.

Sweta Sah, a 26-year-old, took third place, also completing the race with a chip time of 44:22. Sah, who has been running for three years, balances her career as a physiotherapist with dedicated training. For her, running signifies discipline and progress, and she is currently preparing to tackle longer distances with an aim toward marathon running.

The under-29 women’s category highlighted a blend of emerging talent and evolving ambition, bringing together runners at various stages of their journeys. The event transcended mere timings and standings, celebrating intent and personal growth, where each runner carried a unique story and each finish line marked the start of a new chapter.
