Record 127 GW of Renewable Energy Projects Under Construction Set to Surge Capacity

As of now, an impressive total of 127,050 MW of renewable energy capacity is currently under construction, with an additional 89,690 MW in various stages of tendering, according to the Ministry of Power’s recent report to the Lok Sabha.

These figures exclude large hydroelectric and nuclear power plants. Specifically, hydroelectric projects amounting to 13,997 MW are in the construction phase, while another 24,225 MW are in the planning stages.

India has pledged to achieve 500 GW of non-fossil fuel-based electricity generation capacity by the year 2030. Currently, the nation boasts a renewable energy capacity of 203,220 MW, which includes 92,119 MW from solar power, 47,716 MW from wind energy, as well as contributions from biomass and small hydro installations.
