NEW DELHI: Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday laid the foundation stone for the National Security Guard’s (NSG) Special Operations Training Centre (SOTC) in Manesar. The facility, covering eight acres and constructed at a cost of ₹141 crore, aims to provide advanced training for NSG commandos and anti-terror task forces from various state and union territory police departments in their fight against terrorism.

During the ceremony held at the NSG’s headquarters, Shah highlighted the effectiveness of multiple surgical strikes executed by Indian security forces, indicating that terrorists have no refuge and will be pursued regardless of their location. He remarked, “Our security agencies have proven that they will track down and punish terrorists even in the depths of hell… Operation Sindoor destroyed the headquarters of Pakistani terror groups planning attacks on India, along with their training camps and launch pads.”

In observance of the 41st Foundation Day of the NSG, Shah praised the unit for its bravery during significant events such as the 26/11 attacks and the attack on Akshardham. He announced forthcoming significant changes to NSG operations and revealed plans for a seventh NSG hub in Ayodhya, supplementing existing hubs in Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, and Jammu.

Shah emphasized the collaborative nature required to combat terrorism effectively, stating that the central government cannot address the issue alone. “All state governments, special units of state police forces, NSG, and all Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) must work together to ensure the country’s safety,” he noted. He also discussed the steps taken by the Modi government since 2019 to enhance its anti-terror response, including amendments to the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) Act.
