India’s fast bowler Mohammed Shami, who has been out of action since the ODI World Cup final last year, has provided an important update on his injury. There has been speculation surrounding Shami’s fitness as India gears up for their tour of Australia. Team captain Rohit Sharma recently mentioned that Shami experienced swollen knees during his recovery process, and they are being cautious not to rush him back into action.

Despite this setback, Shami was seen bowling at full intensity after the conclusion of the first Test between India and New Zealand. He expressed his happiness with his performance, stating that he is now completely free of pain and eager to return to the field.

Looking ahead, Shami confirmed that he plans to participate in a couple of Ranji Trophy matches for his state team as part of his preparation for the Australia series. His main focus remains on regaining full fitness in time for the challenging tour Down Under.

“I am solely focused on getting fit and ensuring that I am in top form for the Australia series. I understand the kind of bowling attack we will need there, and I want to be fully prepared for it. Playing a couple of Ranji matches before the series will help me build my match fitness,” Shami stated.

With approximately a month left before the Australia series kicks off, all eyes will be on Shami as he works towards making a successful comeback to the Indian team.
