The leader of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Mehbooba Mufti, has expressed her concern over the ongoing tension between India and Pakistan, stating that Jammu and Kashmir is suffering the consequences. According to Mufti, reconciliation between the two nations is crucial to preventing further acts of terror in the region.

Her remarks come in the wake of a tragic incident in which seven individuals, including a local doctor and six non-local laborers, lost their lives in a terrorist attack on a construction camp in Gund, Kashmir. Mufti visited the family of Dr. Shahnawaz Dar, one of the victims, and emphasized the detrimental impact of the conflict on the lives and livelihoods of the people in Jammu and Kashmir.

She highlighted the fact that innocent individuals, like the non-local laborers, are caught in the crossfire of this animosity between India and Pakistan. Mufti stressed the importance of dialogue and reconciliation, drawing on the need for both countries to engage in peaceful discussions to prevent further tragedies like the recent attack in Gund.

Mufti’s calls for peace and diplomacy stand in contrast to the stance taken by other political leaders. While acknowledging the role of external factors, she also emphasized the shared desire among the people of Jammu and Kashmir for an end to violence and bloodshed in the region. Ultimately, Mufti’s message resonates with the broader sentiment of seeking a peaceful resolution to the longstanding conflict between India and Pakistan.
