Large crowds have gathered at pro-Palestinian rallies throughout Europe, demanding an immediate cessation of hostilities in Gaza and the release of activists from a flotilla aimed at delivering humanitarian aid to the region. In Rome, an estimated 250,000 participants took to the streets for the fourth consecutive day of protests following Israel’s interception of a 45-boat flotilla attempting to reach Gaza. Demonstrators, including families with children, voiced their support with chants such as “We are all Palestinians” and “Free Palestine,” while displaying Palestinian flags and wearing traditional keffiyehs. Barcelona saw approximately 70,000 marchers, while nearly 92,000 participated in a rally in Madrid. The Global Sumud Flotilla, which was stopped last week, had departed from Barcelona in early September, aiming to bypass the Israeli blockade amid reports of famine in Gaza. Following the interception, around 50 Spanish citizens on board were detained by Israeli authorities. Similar gatherings occurred in cities like Dublin, London, and Paris, where demonstrators called for an end to the conflict and highlighted the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
