West Bengal’s Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee, is set to inaugurate Infosys’s new campus in Kolkata on Wednesday.

Infosys commenced operations earlier this year on a 17.5-acre site located in the New Town area of Kolkata. The company has plans for gradual expansion at this new facility, with the Chief Minister expected to lead the official inauguration ceremony, according to government sources.

The Infosys campus spans approximately 50 acres in total. Senior executives from the company will be in attendance for the inauguration event.

Earlier this year, Infosys launched a recruitment campaign for this campus and has successfully hired around 2,000 employees to date. The company anticipates hiring a total of about 4,000 individuals shortly.

This new software development center in Kolkata is part of Infosys’s strategy to localize its operations. The company aims to establish facilities closer to skilled talent across various cities in India, eliminating the necessity for employees to relocate for work and offering them enhanced flexibility.
