Lloyds Engineering Works Ltd (LEWL) has announced the establishment of a wholly-owned subsidiary, Lloyds Advance Defence Systems Ltd, to venture into the defence manufacturing sector. Based in Mumbai, LEWL aims to capitalize on the growth potential of defence equipment manufacturing through this new entity, which will benefit from the company’s existing manufacturing capabilities while ensuring compliance with industry-specific requirements.
To bolster its defence operations, LEWL has secured several technology partnerships. Notably, it has entered into agreements with Poland’s FlyFocus Sp. z o.o. to develop advanced First Person View (FPV) drones, which will enhance its current “Defender” drone program. In the marine sector, LEWL has partnered with Kliver Polska Sp. z o.o. to design towed reels and underwater platform equipment.
Additionally, LEWL has formed a collaboration with Italy’s Virtualabs S.r.l. to advance radar technology, alongside a partnership with Fincantieri S.p.A to develop naval systems, including steering mechanics and fin stabilisers.
Founded in 1994, LEWL specializes in manufacturing customized process plant equipment serving the steel, oil and gas, thermal power, and marine industries. The company operates manufacturing facilities situated in Murbad, Thane, Nagpur, and Bhilai, with its main office located in Mumbai.
As of today, the shares of Lloyds Engineering Works Ltd (LEWL) closed at ₹52.25 on the National Stock Exchange (NSE), reflecting a decrease of ₹1.70, or 3.36 percent.
