KPMG has launched a new dashboard for its U.S. employees to monitor their AI usage. According to Business Insider, the dashboard is primarily utilized within KPMG’s advisory division, which comprises around 10,000 employees. The tool enables workers to compare their AI usage against set targets and their peers, with the expectation of promoting more “frequent and sophisticated” usage of AI tools across teams. The dashboard tracks how often employees employ AI tools in their daily tasks and facilitates a comparison to the established goals and team averages.
Introduced late last year, the dashboard is part of KPMG’s strategy to enhance AI adoption throughout the organization. A company spokesperson noted, “Our data shows regular AI users produce higher-quality work, feel less stressed, and spend more time on strategic work. These benefits help people progress faster in their careers and better serve our clients who are undergoing transformation programs.”
The firm highlighted that over 90% of its U.S. workforce utilizes AI tools on a weekly basis. KPMG’s focus has shifted from mere adoption of AI to effective usage. The spokesperson emphasized that the company is “well past simple adoption,” and is now encouraging staff to engage with a variety of advanced AI platforms.
While KPMG is fostering greater engagement with AI technology, some employees have raised concerns regarding the accuracy of the dashboard in reflecting genuine AI usage. According to two employees who spoke with Business Insider, the system may be susceptible to manipulation. One individual remarked, “You can just run a prompt — that would be your AI usage for the day,” suggesting that some coworkers might automate prompts to inflate their usage statistics.
Furthermore, the report indicated that certain tools employed by developers may be excluded from the dashboard’s tracking mechanism. KPMG is not alone in implementing such monitoring tools; several other companies, including JPMorgan, Disney, and Amazon, are also measuring AI usage to evaluate its impact on work processes.
KPMG stated that the dashboard is part of a broader initiative involving training and incentives. The company has initiated programs like the “AI Spark Innovation Awards,” which recognize employees for innovative uses of AI. KPMG has also collaborated with the University of Texas at Austin to research how employees can leverage AI more effectively.
“Our research with UT-Austin shows that the people who get the most value out of AI did not have the most technical knowledge or simply used AI for basic tasks,” the spokesperson explained. “Instead, they treated AI like a true partner, iterating and guiding AI through more complex work or thinking.”
Published on May 5, 2026, this initiative aligns with the growing trend of businesses looking to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of their AI resources.
