In a tragic incident, a passenger plane traveling from Azerbaijan to Russia has crashed near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan. Thankfully, initial reports suggest that there are survivors, according to the Emergencies Ministry of the Central Asian country.

The ministry stated that the fire services were able to extinguish the blaze, and that the survivors are currently receiving medical treatment at a nearby hospital.

Azerbaijan Airlines confirmed that the aircraft involved was an Embraer 190 with flight number J2-8243, originally en route from Baku to Grozny, the capital of Chechnya in Russia. However, due to fog in Grozny, the plane was forced to make an emergency landing approximately 3 km (1.8 miles) from Aktau in Kazakhstan.

Further updates on this tragic incident will be provided as they become available.
