During a meeting of G20 foreign ministers at the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar emphasized the need to address ongoing conflicts, combat terrorism, and reform global multilateralism. He highlighted that both international peace and global development have suffered, with the repercussions particularly affecting the Global South. The impact of these conflicts, particularly in Ukraine and Gaza, has been starkly evident in areas such as energy, food, and fertilizer security.

Minister Jaishankar remarked, “Terrorism remains a persistent threat to development,” underscoring the necessity for the international community to exhibit neither tolerance nor accommodation toward terrorist activities. “Given the extensive networking amongst terrorists, those who act against them on any front actually render a larger service to the international community as a whole,” he added, emphasizing a united front in the fight against terrorism.
