HyFun Foods, a leading potato processor based in Gujarat, has partnered with HarvestEye, a UK-based crop insights company, to introduce advanced artificial intelligence (AI) technology in India. This collaboration aims to help farmers maximize the potential of their harvested produce by utilizing cutting-edge innovation.

In a press release, Haresh Karamchandani, MD and CEO of the HyFun Group, stated, “This strategic collaboration aligns with our vision of revolutionizing the fresh-produce linked food industry by bringing state-of-the-art advancements to potato farming through HyFarm, the agribusiness unit of HyFun Group.”

HyFarm has always been at the forefront of adopting the latest digital technologies and precision agriculture tools to enhance the productivity, profitability, and quality of potato crops. Through this partnership with HarvestEye, vision systems powered by advanced machine learning (AML) and AI will provide real-time insights into potato crops, including size, count, and weight.

Additionally, the integration of HarvestEye with HyFarm’s digital ecosystem, Farmoji, will offer potato farmers access to crop advisories, soil health analysis, water efficiency guidance, weather and disease alerts, drone spraying, and mechanization. This partnership aims to increase transparency regarding the product profile and quality of potatoes supplied to the processing plant, ensuring better value realization for growers and delivering superior frozen products to consumers worldwide.

S Soundararadjane, CEO of HyFarm, expressed that the introduction of HarvestEye in India will be a game-changer for potato farmers, enhancing transparency, quality supplies, productivity, and profitability. For India’s processing industry, this collaboration provides data-driven insights, optimizes raw material utilization, and improves sustainability for products like French fries, hash browns, and other snacks.

Vee Gururajan, CEO of HarvestEye, highlighted the benefits of innovation in transforming potato farming and driving efficient food processing. India, being the second-largest producer of potatoes globally, is committed to leveraging technology for a more resilient, efficient, and farmer-friendly agricultural ecosystem.

This strategic partnership between HyFun Foods and HarvestEye signifies a monumental step in advancing the potato industry in India, showcasing the country’s dedication to embracing technology for agricultural development.
