High Court Demands Urgent Second Post-Mortem in Twisha Sharma Death Investigation

The Madhya Pradesh High Court granted permission on Friday for a second post-mortem examination in the case concerning the death of Twisha Sharma. This decision follows her initial post-mortem, conducted at AIIMS Bhopal after she was found hanging at her marital home on May 12.

Twisha’s husband, Samarth Singh, and her mother-in-law, Giribala Singh, have been charged with dowry-related offenses, including dowry death and harassment. Her family, based in Noida, has criticized the investigation process, citing serious lapses and requesting an autopsy by an independent medical board.

In a significant development, the Madhya Pradesh government has proposed to transfer the case investigation to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). According to a notification reported by PTI, the case registered at the Katara Hills Police Station involves serious charges under Sections 80 (2), 85, 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Sections 3/4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act, linked to Twisha’s death.

Twisha’s family welcomed the government’s decision, expressing hope for justice. Her uncle, Lokesh Sharma, stated that the government has finally begun to take steps toward justice, although he believes the action should have been taken earlier.

Twisha’s cousin, Ashish Sharma, alleged that the delay in the investigation was influenced by the accused’s power and called for accountability regarding those who may have aided the suspects after the crime. He emphasized the need for timely action in such cases, advocating for justice that is blind to wealth or influence.
