The Prime Minister’s internship program, announced by the Union Finance Minister during her Budget speech on July 23, is set to launch on October 3. Interested individuals can start submitting their applications from October 12. The central government has partnered with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) for this initiative.

The platform is expected to shortlist a larger pool of candidates for each internship position based on their profiles, preferences, and qualifications. Companies will then select candidates from this pool and issue offer letters accordingly.

Participants in this program will have the opportunity to intern at the top 500 companies in India that offer internships as part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.

Interns will receive a monthly stipend of ₹5000 along with a one-time financial aid of ₹6,000.

To be eligible for this internship, applicants must meet certain criteria:

A. Applicants must be Indian citizens between the ages of 21 and 24, targeting recent graduates who are in the early stages of their careers.

B. Applicants must be unemployed and not engaged in full-time work.

Required documents for applying include Aadhaar card, email ID, mobile number, address proof, PAN card, and ration card.

The aim of this internship program is to provide one crore internships over the next five years, with a focus on hands-on practical training for at least 50% of the duration.

This program seeks to equip interns with the skills to apply their theoretical knowledge in real-world business settings, enabling their professional growth.

Exclusions from the program include graduates from top institutions like IIT or IIM, individuals aged 25 and above, and those already employed full-time.
