Philip Ackermann, the German Ambassador to India, expressed his delight at the inauguration of the Federation of European Business in India (FEBI) in Delhi, stating that the organization will facilitate the negotiations for a free trade agreement (FTA) between India and Europe.

In an interview with ANI, Ackermann emphasized the significance of FEBI’s establishment in Delhi, emphasizing that Europe plays a crucial role in the Indian business landscape.

“It’s a significant moment. FEBI is a highly intriguing network with over a hundred European companies under its umbrella. As Europe’s influence in India grows, FEBI will play a key role in various sectors, particularly in the FTA negotiations between India and the EU,” stated the German Ambassador.

Furthermore, Ackermann expressed Germany’s satisfaction with the organization’s launch, praising its potential for fostering closer trade relations between India and Europe.

On a somber note, he conveyed his condolences on the passing of Ratan Tata, a revered Indian industrialist and philanthropist, describing him as an iconic figure who will be deeply missed.

FEBI, as an independent organization representing European businesses in India, aims to strengthen the collective advocacy voice of EU companies in the country and serve as a liaison between government and businesses. Supported by the EU Delegation in India and the Embassies of EU Member States, FEBI functions as the official Chamber of Commerce for the EU in India, advocating for European businesses and promoting enhanced trade relations.

Overall, the launch of FEBI marks a significant milestone in fostering stronger business ties between India and Europe, with the potential to drive economic growth and collaboration between the two regions.
