The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has affirmed its commitment to opposing the forthcoming delimitation process, emphasizing that its Members of Parliament (MPs) will collaborate with MPs from the INDIA bloc and other pro-democracy advocates to protect Tamil Nadu’s parliamentary representation and the rights of the state.

During a significant meeting held at the DMK party headquarters, which was led by party president and Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M.K. Stalin, the DMK MPs pledged to vocally address this issue in Parliament when the session convenes on March 10, 2025. Stalin underscored the importance of a unified response from all states that may be adversely affected in order to resist alterations that could disproportionately affect Tamil Nadu and other southern regions.

The DMK also aims to create a broader alliance by engaging with political parties from states that might face a reduction in parliamentary seats, including Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana, Odisha, West Bengal, and Punjab.

Moreover, a separate resolution highlighted Tamil Nadu’s ongoing conflicts with the Union government, alleging the withholding of financial allocations and the imposition of Hindi, while calling for more transparency regarding the delimitation process. The DMK MPs expressed their commitment to raising these issues emphatically in Parliament to ensure that Tamil Nadu’s interests remain protected in the forthcoming electoral restructuring.
