Ousmane Dembélé, the Paris Saint-Germain forward, has claimed the Men’s Ballon d’Or for the 2024/25 season, edging out fellow nominee Lamine Yamal. Dembélé’s exceptional performance, which included winning the UEFA Champions League Player of the Season, helped him secure the prestigious award, surpassing his teammate Vitinha. The notable goalscorer ended his season with an impressive tally of 37 goals and 15 assists, playing a pivotal role in PSG’s domestic double, which consisted of both Ligue 1 and the Coupe de France.

In a heartfelt moment during his acceptance speech at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, Dembélé expressed, “So much joy, pride, and emotion. A dream come true. Thank you to everyone who has always supported me throughout this journey.”

Dembélé was integral to PSG’s historic first UEFA Champions League victory, contributing to their success in the UEFA Super Cup as well. His accolade marks him as the sixth Frenchman to receive the Ballon d’Or, following in the footsteps of legendary players like Raymond Kopa, Michel Platini, Jean-Pierre Papin, Zinedine Zidane, and Karim Benzema.

In the women’s category, Aitana Bonmatí has made history by winning her third Ballon d’Or title, achieving this remarkable feat consecutively over the past three years (2023, 2024, and 2025). Lamine Yamal earned the Kopa Trophy, awarded to the best U-21 player, while England’s Hannah Hampton was honored with the inaugural Women’s Yashin Trophy.
