An 18-year-old domestic worker was hospitalized after she reportedly jumped from the third floor of an apartment in Joshi Colony, East Delhi, following allegations of theft. Police stated that the incident occurred on Wednesday evening when the woman was accused of stealing ₹3,000 from her employer, Ashok Karnani.

According to police, after being confronted about the alleged theft by Karnani’s wife, Shweta, the domestic worker, identified as Asha from Jigman village in Chattarpur, Madhya Pradesh, returned to the kitchen and purportedly jumped out of a small window.

Emergency services were alerted around 5:15 PM, and Asha was taken to LBS Hospital. Due to serious injuries, she was later transferred to GTB Hospital for intensive care and has since been declared unfit to provide a statement.

Asha had been employed by the Karnani family for approximately a year. Four women from the Karnani household were present during the incident, and their statements have been recorded by the police.

The worker’s family denied the theft allegations, suggesting instead that she may have been pushed from the window. Asha’s mother expressed her concerns, stating, “Around 6 PM, I got a call from the police who told me that my daughter is under treatment. Her employers accuse her of theft, but I am sure they may have done something bad to her and forcefully pushed her from the window. She is battling for her life at GTB Hospital, and her condition is serious.”

Law enforcement officials have indicated that an investigation is ongoing, focusing on the circumstances surrounding the incident.
