Air quality in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) remained in the “very poor” category on Thursday morning, with pollution levels exacerbated partly due to the use of firecrackers during Diwali celebrations. In response to the deteriorating conditions, authorities have maintained Stage II of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) to address the situation.
Data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) indicated that Delhi’s overall Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 362 at 6 a.m. Regional readings showed that RK Puram in south-west Delhi and Patparganj in east Delhi both registered an AQI of 362 and 361, respectively, classifying them as “very poor.” Around India Gate, the AQI measured 353, while the area near AIIMS recorded 342. Additionally, the air quality near Akshardham was categorized as “very poor” with an AQI of 350.
Anand Vihar reported the most severe pollution levels in the city, with an AQI of 428, categorizing it as “severe,” according to the CPCB’s latest bulletin.
