Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Accuses AAP of Financial Drain, Promises Unique Women’s Aid Scheme

NEW DELHI: The Chief Minister of Delhi, Rekha Gupta, accused the previous government led by Arvind Kejriwal of depleting the financial resources of the Union Territory and pledged to implement the BJP’s electoral promise of providing Rs 2,500 every month to women in the national capital.

Gupta, who is serving as the MLA for Shalimar Bagh for the first time, indicated that the cash assistance scheme for women will be initiated after thorough planning.

The Delhi CM attended a meeting with other BJP MLAs at the state party office in preparation for the inaugural session of the newly formed 8th Delhi Assembly, which is set to commence on Monday.

Speaking at a press conference following the meeting, the newly appointed CM stated that numerous meetings have taken place with officials regarding the execution of the Mahila Samriddhi Yojna, under which eligible women in Delhi will receive Rs 2,500 per month.

On Saturday, AAP leader Atishi sent a letter to Rekha Gupta seeking a meeting with the AAP legislative delegation to discuss the implementation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s electoral commitment regarding monthly financial assistance for women.

This letter comes after the BJP’s inaugural cabinet meeting on February 20 failed to address the proposed scheme made during Modi’s election rally in Dwarka.

Accusing Congress and AAP of neglecting the residents of Delhi, Gupta stated, “Congress governed Delhi for 15 years, followed by AAP… yet they never addressed the concerns of the people of Delhi. Now, just a day after we took office, they are already questioning our government.”

Emphasizing her party’s prompt actions, she remarked, “We approved the Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme in our first cabinet meeting—a scheme that AAP had delayed for years. We took our oaths and immediately honored this promise.”

Gupta suggested that Congress and AAP should concentrate on their internal issues, claiming, “Many of their members are poised to depart, and they are anxious because we are dedicated to fulfilling all our promises.” She also asserted that the opposition is apprehensive of her government’s transparency.

“They are nervous because we will present reports in the first assembly session that were never disclosed before. The truth regarding their actions will come to light for the public,” she expressed.

Reaffirming her commitment to the people, Gupta assured that her government would adhere to all its promises.

“We commenced our work on day one by visiting Yamuna Ghat, and we are resolute in fulfilling 100 percent of our commitments,” she concluded.
