Delhi Budget Session Kicks Off on March 24: What to Anticipate

The inaugural budget session of Delhi for the year 2025, under the administration of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), is poised to take place from March 24 to March 28. The Delhi Assembly will kick off its second session on Monday, March 24 at 11 am, as announced by Speaker Vijender Gupta in an official statement. The session is preliminarily scheduled to span from March 24 to March 28, 2025.

Previously, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta indicated that the Delhi government has received over 10,000 suggestions from the public regarding the budget.

The budget, titled the ‘Viksit Delhi’ budget, is designed to integrate public input collected through extensive discussions with diverse societal groups, including women, educators, farmers, and industrialists.

As per the official statement, the second session of the Delhi Legislative Assembly will also feature the tabling of the CAG report on the Functioning of DTC. This will mark the third CAG report to be presented in the House on Monday.

Delhi Budget 2025: Anticipated Highlights

Major focus areas of the budget encompass tackling waterlogging, cleaning the Yamuna River, addressing air pollution, improving education and healthcare, fostering employment, and advancing infrastructure development.

Input for the Delhi Budget 2025

On March 6, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta conducted an interactive session with traders, entrepreneurs, and business groups to collect their recommendations for the forthcoming budget.

The Chamber of Trade and Industry recently proposed several suggestions, including the conversion of industrial zones like Bawana, Bhorgarh, Jhilmil, and Badli from leasehold to freehold status.

They also called for rectifications of inconsistencies in circle rates, particularly in Narela, and for equitable electricity rates in Delhi’s industrial sectors, which are comparatively higher than those in neighboring states. Additionally, they advocated for the establishment of a distinct warehouse policy for Delhi.

Proceedings of the Delhi Assembly and Question Hour:

The Delhi Assembly sessions will commence each day at 11.00 am starting Monday, March 24. According to the official announcement, there will be a scheduled break for lunch from 1.00 pm to 2.00 pm.

The Question Hour will take place on March 24, 26, 27, and 28, 2025.
