Binance, a leading cryptocurrency exchange, announced on Monday the launch of stock and exchange-traded fund (ETF) trading on its platform, marking its expansion into traditional financial markets alongside digital assets.
In its announcement, Binance revealed that users will gain access to over 7,000 U.S. stocks and ETFs directly through the app, complementing the existing cryptocurrency offerings. Additionally, customers will have the option to purchase fractional shares, enabling them to invest in parts of stocks with a minimum investment of just $5.
This strategic move reflects the ongoing convergence between cryptocurrency markets and traditional finance, as firms strive to provide customers with a broader array of financial services within a singular platform. Binance joins a growing trend alongside rivals such as Coinbase and Robinhood, which also facilitate access to both digital assets and conventional investments.
The exchange further indicated that it would provide 24/5 trading, allowing users to engage with U.S. stocks and ETFs continuously on weekdays. This extended-hours trading service has gained traction in the industry as brokerages and exchanges respond to increasing demand for market access beyond standard trading hours.
