Twisha Sharma Case: Giribala Singh Claims Lawyer Assaulted Her Son During Court Hearing

NEW DELHI: Former district judge Giribala Singh has accused Twisha Sharma’s lawyer, Anurag Srivastava, of physically assaulting her son, Samarth Singh, during a hearing at the Jabalpur court concerning the dowry death case. This allegation emerged as the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) presented both Samarth and Giribala in court following a five-day custodial remand related to the case of 33-year-old Twisha Sharma’s death.

Giribala claimed that Srivastava assaulted Samarth during the proceedings in Jabalpur. In response, Srivastava denied the allegations and suggested that the matter could be clarified by reviewing the court’s CCTV footage. He further challenged Samarth to reveal where he had purportedly been hiding within the court complex.

During the hearing, Giribala criticized what she termed a “media trial,” asserting that the relentless media attention poses a threat to their safety. “The media trial must cease. Wherever we go, the media follows us; this must be stopped. Our lives are in danger,” she conveyed to the court.

Giribala also expressed concerns regarding a recent crime scene recreation conducted by the CBI, alleging procedural irregularities. She questioned why she had been dropped off three houses away from her residence instead of being taken directly home. Additionally, she objected to media coverage of the recreated footage.

The CBI informed the court that they were seeking judicial remand for the accused, while reserving the right to request further police remand as the investigation progresses. “At this stage, we are requesting judicial remand; however, should the need arise, we will seek police remand,” the agency stated.

The case involves the death of Twisha Sharma, a resident of Noida, who died in Bhopal on May 12. Her family alleges that she endured dowry harassment and mental torture from her husband and in-laws. The investigation by the CBI is ongoing.
