The Metropolitan Stock Exchange of India (MSE) announced on Friday that the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has approved the appointment of Upma Dada Chawdhry as Chairperson of its Governing Board.
Before assuming this new position, Chawdhry served as a Public Interest Director at the MSE. With over 35 years of significant administrative and governance experience, she is a 1983-batch Indian Administrative Service officer from the Himachal Pradesh cadre and has previously retired as Secretary to the Government of India.
Chawdhry’s career encompasses vital sectors such as finance, public sector reforms, education, and women’s empowerment. Notably, in 2016, she became the first woman to serve as Director of the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration.
Latika S Kundu, Managing Director & CEO of MSE, expressed that Chawdhry’s legacy in public service and her profound governance expertise will greatly enhance the exchange. She emphasized that this leadership comes during a crucial period as the MSE seeks to further its vision of establishing a transparent, innovative, and inclusive market infrastructure institution.
The MSE is licensed by SEBI to operate in various segments, including equity, equity derivatives, currency derivatives, and debt.
