BJP Claims Opposition’s Attempt to Distract from Political Failures Fails After Supreme Court Ruling

New Delhi: Following the Supreme Court’s endorsement of the State Identity Register (SIR), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) expressed that the Congress party has faced a “total defeat” and criticized Rahul Gandhi for his recent travels to Car Nicobar and Vietnam during election time. BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi accused Gandhi of seeking scapegoats, particularly the Election Commission, after the party’s electoral losses.

Trivedi stated, “The opposition’s efforts to mask its political incompetence by casting aspersions on all democratic institutions have proven unsuccessful and ineffective in the Supreme Court.” He specifically pointed fingers at Congress and Rahul Gandhi for igniting controversy over the SIR related to electoral rolls.

He further asserted that the opposition had already suffered political and moral defeats in recent elections, lacking popular support for their attempts to incite unrest regarding the issue. “Now, they have also experienced a constitutional defeat,” he added during a press briefing.

The spokesperson emphasized that the Supreme Court’s decision had undermined the foundation of the opposition’s arguments against the SIR. Amid reports of suspected infiltrators leaving West Bengal for Bangladesh due to anticipated action by the BJP government, Trivedi claimed this affirmed the BJP’s position. He noted that some individuals had reportedly admitted on camera to participating in previous elections. “The true character of the opposition alliance has now been exposed—it is anti-Sanatan Dharma and protective of infiltrators,” he concluded.
