New Delhi: The second Test match of the series between Pakistan and Bangladesh is set to take place at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. Ahead of the match, veteran cricketer Mushfiqur Rahim shared insights regarding his decision on his ODI future with Bangladesh.

The 39-year-old cricketer has confirmed that he will not be returning to the One Day International (ODI) format. He acknowledged that he was approached about a potential comeback but declined the opportunity. “I did get the message (to return to the ODI side), but I feel that they don’t need my service any longer. They are doing well, and they will keep getting better,” Mushfiqur stated during a pre-match press conference in Sylhet.

Reports indicate that Bangladesh’s ODI captain, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, was the one to initiate discussions regarding Mushfiqur’s return to the ODI squad. His potential reinstatement into the ODI team has been a topic of considerable conversation over recent months, particularly in light of challenges faced by the team in the middle order of the ODI setup.

Having already retired from T20 Internationals and ODIs, Mushfiqur is now exclusively focused on Test cricket. With his decision to rule out an ODI comeback, he aims to concentrate on elevating Bangladesh’s performance in the longest format of the game.

Bangladesh commenced their Test series against Pakistan on a positive note, achieving a notable victory over Pakistan by 104 runs in the first Test. The second Test is scheduled to commence on May 16 in Sylhet.
