Who is VD Satheesan?

VD Satheesan, born in 1964 in Nettoor near Kochi, has established himself as a prominent leader within the Congress party, recognized for his grassroots approach to politics. With a background in law and social work, he began his political career with the Kerala Students Union (KSU) and has progressively ascended through the ranks of the Congress party.

Currently a leading figure in Kerala’s political landscape, Satheesan has garnered significant support ahead of the 2026 Kerala Assembly elections. Recently, a protest march was held by his supporters in Thiruvananthapuram on May 8, 2026, advocating for his election as the next Chief Minister of Kerala. The demonstration reflects his strong appeal among the party’s base and the growing momentum behind his leadership candidacy.

As the Congress party mobilizes for the upcoming elections, Satheesan’s political journey and grassroots connections may play a pivotal role in shaping the party’s strategies and potential outcomes in a competitive political environment marked by challenges from the United Democratic Front (UDF), the Left Democratic Front (LDF), and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
