Dharamsala: Delhi Capitals’ Madhav Tiwari showcased his talent in only his second IPL match against Punjab Kings, contributing significantly with both bat and ball to secure a three-wicket victory for the visitors in Dharamsala.
The 21-year-old all-rounder was one of five changes made by Delhi for this crucial match. Despite his limited experience at the professional level, Tiwari made an immediate impact by dismissing the formidable Priyansh Arya, who had been on track to dominate the game with a robust innings. Tiwari executed a strategy of sharp, short-pitched deliveries that eventually forced Arya into a mistimed shot, which was caught safely at deep cover by Sahil Parakh.
This wicket was particularly significant for Delhi, as Arya had scored 56 runs off just 33 balls before his dismissal. It marked Tiwari’s inaugural IPL wicket and allowed Delhi to halt Punjab’s aggressive start.
Later, when Delhi found themselves in trouble batting, Tiwari stepped up, delivering a crucial unbeaten contribution of 18 runs from eight balls. His performance ultimately secured the victory for Delhi, and he was awarded the Player of the Match for his efforts.
