New Delhi: Formula 1 returns this week in Miami following a month-long hiatus caused by the cancellations of the Bahrain and Saudi Arabia Grands Prix. With the introduction of revised 2026 regulations and team upgrades, the competition has intensified, particularly as rivals have started to close the gap on Mercedes.

The competitiveness was evident throughout the weekend, including in the sole practice session, sprint race, and qualifying events. Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri from McLaren dominated the sprint race, finishing first and second, respectively. In qualifying, championship leader Kimi Antonelli of Mercedes secured the pole position with Max Verstappen of Red Bull starting closely behind in second, just 0.166 seconds off Antonelli’s time. This marks Antonelli’s third consecutive pole this season.

All Top Four from Different Teams

The starting grid showcases a fierce competition with the top four positions occupied by drivers from four different teams. Behind Antonelli and Verstappen, Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc qualified third, followed by reigning champion Lando Norris in fourth. George Russell of Mercedes placed fifth, with former teammate Lewis Hamilton in sixth, while Oscar Piastri started in seventh. Isack Hadjar finished ninth but was disqualified due to a technical infringement and will now start from 22nd position.

Miami GP Start Time Adjusted

Due to forecasts of severe rainstorms later in the day, the start time for the Miami Grand Prix has been moved earlier. The race will now commence at 1:00 PM local time (10:30 PM IST), a change from the originally scheduled 4:00 PM start. “Following discussions between FIA, F1, and the Miami promoter, the decision was made to move the start time due to weather conditions anticipated to bring heavier rainstorms close to the original scheduled race time,” stated the FIA, Formula 1, and Miami Grand Prix in a joint statement.

Event Schedule

The Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix is set to take place on May 3.

Broadcast Information

In India, the live telecast of the Formula 1 Miami GP will not be available on television channels. However, fans can watch the live stream of the event on the Fancode app and website.
