Tara Sutaria to Make Her Debut at the 79th Cannes Film Festival

New Delhi: Bollywood actress Tara Sutaria is set to make her debut at the 79th Cannes Film Festival in May 2026. The festival is scheduled to take place from May 12 to May 23, attracting numerous actors and celebrities from the Indian film industry. This year, Sutaria will walk the Cannes red carpet for the first time.

Sources indicate that Tara’s appearance is tied to her preparation for the film Toxic, where she will represent India. Unlike past screenings, she will not be attending for a film premiere but rather to leverage her rising popularity associated with it.

Previous Indian attendees at Cannes have included well-known figures such as Aishwarya Rai, Alia Bhatt, and Payal Kapadia, the latter being appointed chair of the jury for the Cannes Critics’ Week happening from May 13 to 21.

Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups, co-written by Yash and Geetu Mohandas, is directed by Mohandas and features a diverse cast that includes Yash, Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth, and Sutaria in significant roles. Early images from the film, where Sutaria portrays a character named Rebecca, were released on January 3, prompting comments from Mohandas who expressed a protective sentiment toward the actress, stating, “I have always had this natural urge to protect Tara.”

Recently, news emerged that the release of Toxic, initially scheduled for June 4, has been postponed. Yash revealed that while the film is complete, current efforts are focused on finalizing global distribution deals, a decision made to maximize its international impact. The film was initially set for a worldwide release on March 19, coinciding with Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2, directed by Aditya Dhar.
