NEW DELHI: A recent interaction on social media involving Union Home Minister Amit Shah has garnered widespread attention as he prepares for a roadshow in poll-bound West Bengal. On Thursday, Shah posted a video of a sunset on Instagram, captioning it with a critique of the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC): “The sun of the TMC’s corruption and hooliganism has set.”

In response to a comment from a supporter who expressed anticipation for his arrival in Madhyamgram Assembly constituency, a BJP stronghold in North 24 Parganas, Shah acknowledged the delay and assured the supporter he would reach in 10 minutes. The user had urged Shah to come quickly, stating, “Jaldi aa jaiye, Amit ji…khade hai hum log road show k liye garmi me bohot der se (Come fast, Amit ji…we have been standing in the heat for so long for your roadshow).”

Shah subsequently conducted the roadshow to support BJP candidate Anindya Raju Banerjee, who is competing against Trinamool Congress MLA Rathin Ghosh in Madhyamgram. Following the event, Shah shared visuals on X, emphasizing, “The people of Madhyamgram Assembly Constituency have not forgotten the atrocities committed against women in Sandeshkhali. This surge of people spilling over during the roadshow is a symbol of the end of the grassroots regime.”

In related news, the Election Commission reported that phase I of the West Bengal assembly elections concluded at 6 PM on Thursday, with a voter turnout recorded at 91.83%. Phase II voting is set to take place on April 29.
