PM Modi intensified his campaign in West Bengal, focusing on welfare initiatives for women and criticizing the Trinamool Congress (TMC) for opposing the women’s reservation bill. During a rally in Bankura, he pledged to provide free healthcare coverage up to Rs 5 lakh, financial support for pregnant women, and free dialysis if the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) comes to power.

In international news, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian challenged the United States’ authority regarding Iran’s nuclear program. He argued that the U.S. lacks a legal basis to deny Iran access to its own technology and questioned the legitimacy of former President Donald Trump’s remarks, asking, “Who is he to deprive a nation of its rights?”

Tragedy struck in Italy, where two Indian men were shot dead near the Gurdwara Mata Sahib Kaur Ji in Covo, located in Bergamo province. The incident occurred late Friday night as they were leaving a warehouse used for worship during a Vaisakhi gathering. The victims were identified as Raginder Singh, 48, a resident of Covo, and Gurmit Singh, also 48, from Agnadello.

In entertainment news, Bollywood actors Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh announced their second pregnancy via a touching social media post. The announcement accompanied a family photo that hinted at Deepika’s baby bump, generating excitement among fans and within the film industry.

On the sports front, the Kolkata Knight Riders faced an early setback during their IPL match against the Rajasthan Royals. They struggled right from the first delivery, with Jofra Archer bowling out Tim Seifert for a golden duck. Nandre Burger added to their woes by dismissing Ajinkya Rahane on his second ball, leaving KKR at 21/2 in just three overs while chasing a target of 156 runs.
