New Delhi: The prominent collaboration of Akshay Kumar and director Priyadarshan is once again captivating audiences with their latest film, Bhooth Bangla. Anticipation has been high concerning the film’s intriguing and ominous villain, ‘Vadhusur’. Following the release of the trailer, viewers have been eager to uncover the true identity of the monster responsible for abducting brides in the village of Mangalpur.

With the film’s debut, this mystery is unveiled, revealing an unexpectedly close connection between the villain and Akshay Kumar. The film features a major plot twist, where the true antagonist is revealed to be none other than Kumar himself. This dual role allows him to portray both the main character, ‘Arjun Acharya,’ and the chilling antagonist, Madhav, his biological father. Within the narrative, Madhav acquires the sinister powers of ‘Vadhusur’, becoming a feared figure in the village and orchestrating the murders of newlywed brides. While ‘Vadhusur’ is visually depicted as a fearsome, animated monster, ultimately, it is Madhav (Akshay Kumar) who embodies the true terror.

The film’s lead actress, Wamiqa Gabbi, also exhibits her versatility by playing two biological sisters. The plot takes an emotional turn as ‘Vadhusur’ targets one sister as a victim, prompting the other to risk her own life in order to seek revenge and unravel the mysteries of a cursed palace. Gabbi skillfully differentiates between her two roles, showcasing her depth as an actress.

In addition to Kumar and Gabbi, the film features veteran actress Tabu, which further enriches the storyline. The comedic elements are expertly handled by seasoned actors such as Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, and Asrani, ensuring that while the film delivers horror elements, it also evokes laughter, reminiscent of Priyadarshan’s earlier works. This diverse cast effectively maintains suspense and drama throughout the entirety of the film.

The reunion between Priyadarshan and Kumar for this horror-comedy comes after a 19-year hiatus, following their 2007 hit Bhool Bhulaiyaa, which set new standards for success in the genre. Though their previous collaboration, Khatta Meetha in 2010, received an average box office response, with Bhooth Bangla, this duo reaffirms their proficiency within this genre.
