Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Shines in IPL 2026: Young Star Leaves a Mark for Rajasthan Royals

Guwahati: The spotlight is firmly on Vaibhav Sooryavanshi during the ongoing 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) season. At just 15 years old, the burgeoning talent has made headlines with his performances for the Rajasthan Royals, currently holding the orange cap as the leading run-scorer after 16 matches.

In a standout display against the defending champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Sooryavanshi scored an impressive 78 runs off just 26 balls, playing a pivotal role in his team’s successful chase of a 202-run target and maintaining their unbeaten streak.

Following the match, Sooryavanshi shared insights on his approach to batting, particularly when facing established bowlers such as Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood. He emphasized the importance of concentrating on the ball rather than the bowler. “At the back of my mind, I’m aware of who is bowling, but I focus on playing the ball, adjusting my game accordingly,” Sooryavanshi stated during the post-match presentation.

The young cricketer also expressed gratitude for the support he receives from his father and coaches, highlighting the guidance that keeps him grounded. He mentioned feeling disappointed with his dismissal, noting that if he had remained at the crease, he could have added another 10-20 runs to the total. “My father and my coaches stress that the journey is long and has only just begun. It’s crucial to focus on my process and the game itself,” he remarked. “If I can stay at the wicket longer, I could help finish the chase sooner or contribute more to the target.”

The IPL continues to showcase Sooryavanshi’s remarkable potential as he navigates through the high-stakes environment of professional cricket.
