New Delhi:

Team India will tour Zimbabwe in July this year for three T20Is, the BCCI confirmed today while announcing the schedule officially as well. These matches come amid a packed international schedule for the men in blue across all formats after the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season.

India’s home season will start as early as June as they are hosting Afghanistan for one Test and three ODIs, and then will tour England for as many as eight white-ball matches, which will conclude on July 19. Four days later on July 23, India’s Zimbabwe tour is scheduled to get underway. The remaining two T20I matches will then be played on July 25 and 26, with all matches scheduled to be played in Harare.

Notably, Zimbabwe are also slated to tour India in January next year for three ODIs from January 3 to 9 with Kolkata, Hyderabad and Mumbai to host the matches.

India tour of Zimbabwe – Schedule announced

1st T20I – July 23

2nd T20I – July 25
3rd T20I – July 26

India and Zimbabwe also faced each other in the T20 World Cup in the Super 8 stage. India were in a must-win situation then and they piled up 256 runs in their 20 overs. In response, Zimbabwe also put up a decent fight, smashing 184 runs but lost by 72 runs.

India’s packed schedule gets even more challenging

All the Indian players are currently featuring in the Indian Premier League (IPL) at the moment but the national team is awaiting a tough international schedule from June. After hosting Afghanistan, India will tour England and Zimbabwe in July for a string of white-ball matches. Just before the England tour gets underway, the team is also slated to play two T20Is against Ireland. Apart from these away tours, India will also host West Indies, Sri Lanka and Australia which packs their calendar until the next IPL season.
