Nifty Nears All-Time High Amidst Surge in Banking Stocks

Among the top Nifty gainers, Bajaj Finance led with a surge of 3.07% , followed by Hindustan Unilever, Shriram Finance, Larsen & Toubro, and Bajaj Finserv

At 12.30 pm, the Nifty 50 was trading at 26,221.80, up 16.50 points or 0.06 per cent from its previous close of 26,205.30. The Sensex stood at 85,798.96, gaining 189.45 points or 0.22 per cent from its previous close of 85,609.51. The benchmarks had opened higher, with the Nifty starting at 26,261.25 and the Sensex at 85,745.05.

Market breadth remained balanced, with 1,968 stocks advancing against 1,946 declining stocks on the BSE. A total of 103 stocks hit their 52-week highs, while 97 touched their 52-week lows. Additionally, 155 stocks were locked in the upper circuit, compared to 133 in the lower circuit.

Banking stocks continued to drive the market momentum, with the Nifty Bank index gaining 243.75 points or 0.41 per cent to trade at 59,758.85, holding above the crucial 59,550 level. The Nifty Financial Services index outperformed with a gain of 174.05 points or 0.63 per cent to reach 27,973.55. However, broader markets lagged, with the Nifty Midcap 100 down 59.40 points or 0.10 per cent at 61,003.35 and the Nifty Smallcap 100 declining 90.70 points or 0.50 per cent to 17,883.45.

Among the top Nifty gainers, Bajaj Finance led with a surge of 3.07 per cent to ₹1,041.70, followed by Hindustan Unilever up 1.07 per cent at ₹2,451.20, Shriram Finance rising 1.07 per cent to ₹865.80, Larsen & Toubro gaining 1.03 per cent at ₹4,104, and Bajaj Finserv advancing 1.01 per cent to ₹2,106.10.

On the downside, Eicher Motors was the top loser, falling 2.65 per cent to ₹7,008, followed by ONGC down 1.53 per cent at ₹243.90, Eternal declining 1.53 per cent to ₹302.15, Bajaj Auto dropping 1.28 per cent to ₹9,047, and Adani Enterprises slipping 1.16 per cent to ₹2,288.20.

Market analysts noted that the Nifty faces immediate resistance at 26,350-26,450, with strong support at 26,200-26,150, while the Bank Nifty eyes the psychological 60,000 level after breaking its long-term resistance trendline.
