New Delhi: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has consistently showcased India’s diverse culture on international platforms, including her appearance in an interview with David Letterman shortly after her success in the film Devdas with Shah Rukh Khan.

During the 2005 interview promoting her film Bride and Prejudice, Letterman inquired whether it was customary for adult children to reside with their parents in India. Aishwarya’s witty reply highlighted cultural differences, stating, “It’s fine to live with your parents, because it’s also common in India that we don’t have to take appointments from parents to meet for dinner,” which left Letterman impressed.

In a recent event on November 19, Aishwarya honored Prime Minister Narendra Modi by touching his feet during the birth centenary celebrations of Sri Sathya Sai Baba in Puttaparthi, Andhra Pradesh. In her address, she discussed themes of caste, religion, and love, asserting, “There is only one caste, the caste of humanity. There is only one religion, the religion of love. There is only one language, the language of the heart, and there is only one God, and he is omnipresent.”

She expressed gratitude to PM Modi for attending and emphasized the importance of spiritual qualities as taught by Sri Sathya Sai Baba, listing the “five D’s”: Discipline, Dedication, Devotion, Determination, and Discrimination.

On the professional front, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was last seen in Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan films. Each year, she also represents India at the Cannes Film Festival.
