The Indian team has garnered national acclaim, particularly for defeating seven-time champions Australia in the semifinal by successfully chasing a record total of 339 runs. Jemimah Rodrigues was a standout performer in that match, scoring an unbeaten 127, with support from captain Harmanpreet Kaur, who contributed 89 runs.
Despite facing three consecutive losses in the league stage, the team demonstrated resilience and determination, ultimately securing a spot in the final against South Africa.
In the final, held on November 2, Shafali Verma led India with an impressive 87 runs, helping the team to post a total of 298 runs in their allotted 50 overs. South Africa’s captain, Laura Wolvaardt, delivered a remarkable century during the chase, but her efforts fell short as the team was dismissed for 246 runs, leading to India’s victory by 52 runs. Notably, Deepti Sharma, who was named player of the tournament, took the last wicket, while Harmanpreet Kaur executed a remarkable catch running backwards.
