An elderly Dalit man in the Kakori police station area of Lucknow, identified as Rampal Pasi, was allegedly forced to lick urine by a man identified as an RSS worker. The incident occurred near Purani Bazar in the Sheetal Temple locality, highlighting the persistent issues of caste violence and humiliation faced by Dalits in Uttar Pradesh.

Reports indicate that Pasi, who is ailing, accidentally spilled water while drinking. The accused reportedly mischaracterized the incident as urination and, in a brutal act of cruelty, compelled Pasi to lick it up after fetching water. Eyewitness accounts describe the victim as having endured casteist slurs and severe verbal abuse during the incident.

Human rights advocates and Dalit organizations have denounced the event, labeling it as a “brazen display of caste arrogance and feudal mentality.” They emphasized that this act not only constitutes physical violence but is also an attempt to undermine the dignity and spirit of an elderly Dalit man.

Chandrashekhar Azad MP, the chief of the Bhim Army and president of the Azad Samaj Party, condemned the incident as “a blot on humanity and an assault on the soul of the Constitution,” calling for immediate action from the Uttar Pradesh government. He insisted on the urgent arrest of the accused under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and demanded government protection, dignified compensation, and medical care for the victim.

Azad further remarked, “Power has been exerted on the body, and the poison of casteism on the soul,” underlining the need for justice. Local residents have criticized the police for inaction and delays in filing the case, asserting that caste violence frequently goes unpunished unless it generates significant public outrage.

As for the police response, a case has now been registered under the appropriate sections based on the written complaint received. Authorities confirmed that the accused has been arrested and that necessary legal proceedings are underway.
