Hyderabad Student Killed in Texas Shooting

A 28-year-old student from Hyderabad, Pole Chandrasekhar, was fatally shot in Texas on October 3 (US time) in what police believe may have been an attempted armed robbery at a gas station. Chandrasekhar, who worked part-time at the establishment, was confronted by an unidentified gunman and died at the scene.

The incident has incited deep sorrow in Hyderabad. “We learned that my brother was shot dead at a gas station. He was in the US to pursue higher studies and was looking for a job,” said his brother, Damodar, from their home in Teachers’ Colony.

Chandrasekhar had recently completed a bachelor’s degree in dental surgery in Hyderabad before moving to the United States in 2023 to pursue a master’s in data analytics at the University of Texas. According to family members, he had finished his course and was working at the gas station to cover his daily expenses.
