India and Pakistan Prepare for Women’s World Cup Clash

New Delhi: India and Pakistan are set to meet in the Women’s World Cup 2025, scheduled for Sunday, October 5, at the R.Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

This encounter marks the fourth consecutive Sunday meeting between the two nations, with the previous three battles occurring in the men’s Asia Cup 2025, where the team led by Suryakumar Yadav triumphed over Pakistan in the final.

India commenced their World Cup journey with a commanding victory against Sri Lanka, propelled by impressive performances from Deepti Sharma. The Indian side faced early difficulties, slipping to 124/6, but a resilient partnership between Deepti and Amanjot Kaur enabled them to recover and set a total of 269/8. Deepti’s contribution with the ball was equally vital, as she claimed 3 wickets for 54 runs in her 10 overs, aiding in a 59-run victory using the DLS method.

In contrast, Pakistan experienced a dismal start to their campaign, succumbing to Bangladesh in their opening match. The Women in Green were bowled out for a mere 129 runs, with Bangladesh successfully chasing the target with seven wickets remaining and 18.5 overs to spare.

As the two teams prepare for their 12th meeting, India holds an overwhelming 11-0 advantage in previous encounters. Weather conditions may play a significant role, as evidenced by the washed-out match between Sri Lanka and Australia on October 4.

Weather Forecast for R Premadasa Stadium

Weather reports indicate a high likelihood of rain at the R Premadasa Stadium, particularly in the morning, with 100% chances of precipitation during that time. However, forecasts suggest improved conditions during the match, with rain probability decreasing significantly. According to Accuweather, there is a 70% chance of rain at 11 AM on match day, tapering off to 20% by 3 PM, the scheduled match start time. This percentage remains at 20% until 5 PM, further diminishing to 16% at 6 PM and down to as low as 5% later in the evening.

Team Squads:

  • Pakistan Women’s Squad: Muneeba Ali, Omaima Sohail, Sidra Amin, Rameen Shamim, Aliya Riaz, Sidra Nawaz (w), Fatima Sana (c), Natalia Pervaiz, Diana Baig, Nashra Sandhu, Sadia Iqbal, Shawaal Zulfiqar, Eyman Fatima, Syeda Aroob Shah, Sadaf Shamas.
