New Delhi: Indian cricketer Abhishek Sharma’s sister, Komal Sharma, married businessman Lovish Oberoi on October 3 in a vibrant ceremony in Amritsar. The event was marked by traditional rituals and celebrations as the couple embarked on their new life together.
Despite the significance of the day, Abhishek was unable to attend the wedding, a fact that Komal acknowledged with emotion. “It feels amazing. This is such a great day for me, I am tying the knot today. I am very happy and excited. I am missing my brother,” she expressed to the media, highlighting her feelings about his absence.
The reason for Abhishek’s absence was his commitment to the national team, as he was participating in a one-day match for India A against Australia A. On that day, he was dismissed for a golden duck at Green Park in Kanpur, where India A was bowled out for 246 runs. Australia won the match by nine wickets, with a revised DLS target of 160 runs in 25 overs.
Prior to the wedding, Abhishek was present at pre-wedding festivities, where he showcased his dance skills alongside singer Ranjit Bawa, a moment that gained attention on social media. Notably, his mentor, Yuvraj Singh, attended the ceremony.
Abhishek exhibited strong performance during the Asia Cup, earning the title of Player of the Tournament. He scored three consecutive half-centuries without reaching the hundred mark, contributing significantly with scores of 74 against Pakistan, 75 against Bangladesh, and 61 against Sri Lanka. Over the tournament, he accumulated a total of 314 runs.
