Delhi Police conducted a search at the Sri Sharada Institute of Indian Management Research (SRISIM) on Wednesday, recovering several objectionable items, including one sex toy and five CDs allegedly containing pornographic content. The search also yielded three forged photographs of the accused, Chaitanyananda Saraswati, which purportedly depicted him alongside Prime Minister Narendra Modi, former U.S. President Barack Obama, and another leader based in the UK.
Following the recovery, police teams traveled to various locations in Uttarakhand, including Bageshwar and Almora, to gather further evidence related to the case. During the searches, Chaitanyanda Saraswati and several female associates were present.
DCP South West Amit Goel announced on Tuesday that Saraswati faces accusations of molesting 17 students at the Delhi institution. Authorities allege that he may have lured victims with promises of employment, taking advantage of his influence. DCP Goel disclosed that a detailed investigation is ongoing, with evidence being collected against the accused. He noted that three women, in particular, had been closely associated with Saraswati and could have facilitated his predatory behavior.
Additionally, investigators revealed that Saraswati was using an international phone number to communicate, trying to conceal his identity. He had been apprehended in a hotel while utilizing a previous name to evade detection.
Police found lewd chats and images of women on Saraswati’s phone, indicating a pattern of predatory conduct. Reports indicate that victimized individuals identified three women in their complaints, which led police to question these associates further.
Saraswati has reportedly shown “no remorse” regarding his alleged actions and is not cooperating during questioning, as stated by the Delhi Police on Tuesday. Officials noted that he provides evasive answers unless confronted with substantial evidence.
Two of his female associates have been detained for questioning, with their involvement being scrutinized as part of the ongoing investigation. The allegations against Saraswati began when a complaint was filed at the Vasant Kunj North Police Station, which detailed multiple acts of sexual harassment.
The FIR recorded communications from a student and an Air Force officer on July 28 and August 1, 2025, concerning the alleged sexual misconduct. Consequently, the Governing Council of the Peetham convened a virtual meeting with over 30 women students on August 3, where they reported experiences of sexual harassment and intimidation. Allegations suggested that students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds felt coerced into visiting Saraswati’s quarters at night.
Moreover, the FIR included claims of lewd messages received via WhatsApp and SMS and threats related to academic degrees and documents. It also mentioned the installation of surveillance cameras in the women’s hostel under the guise of security, with some individuals allegedly helping enforce compliance with Saraswati’s demands while ignoring complaints.
