Days after the Kauru rally stampede that resulted in the deaths of 41 individuals, actor and founder of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), Vijay, released a video statement on Tuesday addressing the tragedy. In the video, he explained that he has refrained from visiting the affected families, stating that his presence could create an “unusual situation.”

“I didn’t visit Karur as it would lead to an unusual situation. I will meet you (the families of victims and the injured) soon,” he conveyed in the message shared on his social media platform.

Vijay asserted his belief that the true circumstances surrounding the tragic incident would soon be revealed, suggesting he is prepared to face any repercussions that may arise. “Nothing like this should have happened. People do not know all the truths. People are watching everything,” he remarked. He added, “Soon, all the truth will come out.”

In a strong statement aimed at Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, Vijay emphasized that the party members and supporters had adhered to their assigned positions during the rally. He expressed that he has never encountered such a “painful situation” in his life and challenged the Chief Minister to “do anything to him,” as long as his party colleagues are not affected.

“You may do anything to me,” he reiterated, despite his party members, including senior leaders Bussy N Anand and CTR Nirmal Kumar, facing police action related to the September 27 stampede in Karur, approximately 400 kilometers from Chennai.

Vijay sought to confront the ruling DMK regarding the incident, stating, “CM sir, if you have a thought of seeking vengeance, you may do anything to me and not touch the party men.”

In his full video statement, Vijay addressed the public with a heartfelt message. He said, “Namaste to everyone. I have never faced such a painful situation in my life. The only pain in my heart is pain itself.” He expressed gratitude for the support he has received from his followers and emphasized the paramount importance of safety during his tours. He explained that he prioritized the well-being of people over political interests.

“I had requested permission for ten locations and coordinated with the police department. However, what should not have happened, happened. I am also a human being. When everyone is affected at such times, I cannot leave,” he stated.

Vijay wished for the swift recovery of those hospitalized and promised to meet them soon. He thanked various political figures and parties who have shown solidarity with the affected families during this difficult time.

Reflecting on events leading to the stampede, he stated, “Nothing like this should have happened. But how can corruption happen? People do not know all the truths. People are watching everything.” He asserted that the truth would ultimately emerge and reiterated that his supporters had maintained their designated positions during the rally.

In concluding his statement, Vijay urged the Chief Minister, saying, “If you want to take revenge, do whatever you can, but do not touch my party men. I will either be at home or in the office. Do whatever you can. Friends, colleagues, our political journey will continue even stronger, with even more courage.”
