Navi Mumbai: Political analysts indicate that the alliance between BJP and Shiv Sena is on the verge of fracturing in Navi Mumbai and Thane, with both parties likely to contest the upcoming municipal elections independently. As the civic elections approach, the rift between the allies has widened, marked by mutual accusations.

Recently, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Industries Minister Uday Samant launched a staunch critique of BJP’s Airoli MLA, Ganesh Naik, ahead of the elections. The rivalry between Shinde and Naik has intensified over recent days, suggesting the possibility of a direct contest as the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance considers a split for the municipal elections.

Naik has criticized Shinde in the past and has labeled himself the most prominent leader in Thane district. In response, Shinde has questioned Naik’s public engagement model, highlighting that Thane, once a stronghold of Congress, is now firmly in the hands of Shiv Sena. Furthermore, Shinde has criticized Naik’s family members who hold significant positions, underscoring that Shiv Sena stands as a party representing the common man.
