NEW DELHI: Eight-year-old twins Zainab and Zaiba from Anantnag, Kashmir, have gained attention on social media for their heartfelt invitation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit the region and offer support to flood victims. The video, which circulated online on Sunday, captures the twins expressing their hope for the Prime Minister to witness Kashmir’s beauty and help those affected by recent flooding.

The twins, who live in the Kokarnag area of South Kashmir, were filmed while interacting with BJP leader Ravinder Raina during his visit to the Jablipora Fruit Mandi. Raina was meeting with horticulture traders who experienced significant losses due to road blockages caused by landslides.

Zainab articulated their wish for the Prime Minister’s visit, stating, “We wanted Modi to visit Kashmir because Kashmir is really beautiful. Modi’s visit to Kashmir would have added to the valley’s splendour.” The crowd echoed their sentiments with cheers of support.

When Raina inquired if they wanted to meet Modi, both girls enthusiastically affirmed their desire. Zainab added, “We want him to come to our Kashmir in summer or when winter comes. We are requesting him once again.” Zaiba highlighted the challenges they face, mentioning, “We have suffered huge losses. Our bridge was washed away in the rain. Apple traders and those who owned orchards suffered terrible losses.”

The twins also advocated for the establishment of a cold storage facility in their area to help preserve the region’s apples, a fruit that holds a special place among Indian consumers. Zainab humorously noted, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away,” prompting laughter from the audience.
