DMK’s Diversionary Tactics Criticized by BJP Leader Vanathi Srinivasan

BJP leader and MLA Vanathi Srinivasan criticized the DMK government for diverting attention from pressing issues by focusing on topics like the use of the Tamil symbol for the Rupee and opposing the Central government’s National Education Policy (NEP).

On Thursday, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) revealed evidence suggesting significant financial irregularities involving ₹1,000 crore related to TASMAC operations.

Chief Minister MK Stalin took to X to announce that the Tamil Nadu government opts for the Tamil symbol over the Devanagari script for the Rupee. In response to this matter, Srinivasan stated, “In protest against these issues, we staged a walkout from the Assembly.”

She emphasized that when MLAs, MPs, or ministers take their oaths in the name of the Constitution, they are expected to adhere to its principles. Since the Central Government recognizes the Devanagari script officially, she argued that its usage should be respected.

In her post on X, Vanathi Srinivasan highlighted the ongoing ED investigation into TASMAC, noting it uncovered unaccounted cash transactions worth ₹1,000 crore along with evidence of manipulated tenders and widespread financial misconduct. She has also reached out to the Speaker of the Tamil Nadu Assembly, urging the government to provide a response under Rule 55.

Srinivasan expressed concern that the DMK is diverting attention from essential public issues. Rather than imposing Hindi as the DMK claims, she pointed out that the NEP actually promotes regional Indian languages.

While the DMK asserts its commitment to protecting the Tamil language, culture, and pride, Srinivasan argued that the BJP government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, shows a genuine respect for Tamil culture and language. She accused the DMK of politicizing Tamil for its own gain, while expressing the BJP’s genuine commitment to the development of regional languages.
