Mahila Samriddhi Scheme: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) administration in Delhi, under the leadership of the Chief Minister, introduced the much-awaited scheme on Saturday, coinciding with Women’s Day 2025.

This initiative represents the commencement of fulfilling the promises made by the BJP during their campaign for the Delhi Assembly elections. The Mahila Samriddhi Yojana was a significant electoral pledge highlighted in the BJP’s manifesto.

Here is all you need to know about the Delhi Mahila Samriddhi Yojana:

What is the Delhi Mahila Samriddhi Yojana?

This scheme was part of the agenda during the Delhi Assembly Elections.

The Mahila Samriddhi scheme, aimed at supporting women in Delhi, offers them monthly financial assistance of ₹2,500.

This scheme directly counters the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) commitment to provide a monthly cash handout of ₹2,100 to women in Delhi.

The scheme is akin to the financial assistance programs for women in other NDA-ruled states, such as the ’ in Madhya Pradesh and the ‘Ladki Bahin Yojana’ in Maharashtra.

The initiative is specifically designed for women from economically disadvantaged backgrounds within the national capital.

Mahila Samriddhi Scheme: Key Announcements

Delhi CM Rekha Gupta recently confirmed last month that the Mahila Samriddhi scheme would be launched today (March 8), signifying the start of fulfilling the BJP’s electoral promises.

To bring this initiative to fruition, the Delhi cabinet is expected to convene today to deliberate on the scheme’s launch.

According to official sources cited by news agency PTI, a cabinet note regarding the BJP’s electoral promise of the Mahila Samriddhi Yojana may be presented before the Delhi cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta for approval.

The Chief Minister is scheduled to participate in the Delhi BJP’s Mahila Diwas program at the JLN stadium at noon on Saturday, where the scheme and its details are expected to be unveiled.

Last week, BJP MP Manoj Tiwari remarked that registration for the Mahila Samriddhi scheme would commence on March 8. He mentioned that a list of eligible beneficiaries would be compiled, enabling the complete process of disbursing ₹2,500 to every eligible woman from economically weaker sections to be finalized within a one-and-a-half month timeframe.

It is anticipated that the cabinet will review the guidelines and eligibility criteria of the scheme prior to giving its approval, as further reported by PTI.
