Atishi Critiques BJP’s ₹2,500 ‘Mahila Samriddhi Scheme’ as Empty Promises

Mahila Samridhi Scheme: Former Chief Minister of Delhi, Atishi, criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government on Saturday for failing to transfer the promised monthly assistance of ₹2,500 to women’s accounts. The AAP leader further accused Prime Minister Modi of making empty promises.

The Mahila Samridhi Scheme, which aims to provide financial aid of ₹2,500 per month to underprivileged women, was a prominent promise made by the BJP during the Delhi Assembly elections held in February.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader’s remarks followed the approval of funding allocations by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.

Gupta announced the establishment of a committee headed by her to facilitate the implementation of the Mahila Samriddhi Yojana.

In response to this announcement, Atishi labeled Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s assurances as mere ‘jumlas’ and claimed that the BJP had deceived voters.

“Women in Delhi are still waiting for ₹2,500 notifications on their phones. PM Modi promised at a rally that on 8th March ₹2,500 would be transferred to women’s accounts. However, today, the BJP-led Delhi government has shown that it was no guarantee from PM Modi but just a ‘jumla’,” she stated.

Atishi emphasized that not only was the financial aid absent, but the women had not even been provided with a scheme or registration portal. They were simply given a four-member committee.

“The BJP has demonstrated that this is merely the start; all promises made in their Sankalp Patra will likely be unfulfilled as well,” Atishi concluded.

A committee, led by Gupta, has been created to oversee the scheme’s implementation, with senior ministers Ashish Sood, Parvesh Verma, and Kapil Mishra also included.

The government announced plans to launch a dedicated online portal for registrations related to the scheme.

“This initiative represents a move towards fulfilling our commitment to the women of Delhi. By providing direct financial support, we aim to enhance economic security, foster independence, and empower women throughout the city,” the government remarked.

How To Apply For Mahila Samriddhi Scheme

The Delhi government indicated that they will soon introduce a portal along with additional details. They noted that the scheme will utilize advanced technology to ensure transparency, efficiency, and smooth disbursement of financial assistance, with Aadhaar-based e-KYC being employed.
