Pharma and Auto stocks surge, IT sector declines in mid-day trade on Feb 24, 2025

Shares of Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, Mahindra & Mahindra, Eicher Motors, Nestle India, and Tata Consumer Products were among the top gainers of Nifty 50 during intraday trading, while IT stocks dragged down the market.

Conversely, Wipro, HCL Technologies, Infosys, TCS, and Bharti Airtel were among the major laggards in trading.

IT and telecom stocks weighed heavily on the market, while pharmaceutical and auto sectors showed resilience during Monday’s trading session. The broader market witnessed a decline of about 1%. The Sensex was down 768.46 points or 1.02% at 74,542.60, while the Nifty 50 slumped 230.85 points or 1.01% to 22,565.05.

Top Gainers:

Dr Reddy’s Laboratories saw a 1.56% increase to ₹1169.75, with a trading volume of 13,43,977. Following closely was Mahindra & Mahindra, which rose by 1.35% to ₹2705.45. Eicher Motors experienced a positive momentum, rising by 1.03% to ₹5013.4 with 2,12,358 shares traded. Additionally, FMCG stocks Nestle India and Tata Consumer Products witnessed modest gains of 0.80% and 0.44% to trade at ₹2,232.75 and ₹1008.45, respectively.

Top Losers:

Conversely, IT stocks saw a decline, with Wipro falling by 3.44% to ₹295.8. HCL Technologies followed with a 3.17% drop to ₹1,646.8. Infosys and TCS saw decreases of 2.99% and 2.27% to ₹1,760.75 and ₹3,700.15, respectively. Telecom stock Bharti Airtel declined by 2.19% to ₹1,603.4.

On the BSE, shares of Neuland Laboratories, Pfizer, Vesuvius India, JSW Holdings, and Orchid Pharma saw gains, while Vijaya Diagnostic Centre, Religare, Gokex, and Lloyds Engineering Works experienced depreciation.
